The release of ChatGPT, a large language model generative artificial intelligence, to the public in November 2022 caused a major disruption in higher education. The technology is changing daily, so please consider this merely an introduction to assist in the understanding and ethical use of generative AIs.

Before you decide on how to use generative AIs, you need to understand a bit about what they are and how they work.

Before you take the time to learn about GAIs, it might help to understand why it matters. There are multiple reasons to understand GAIs and know how to use them.
