Library of Congress Call Numbers

1. Find the Quicksearch Catalog using one of the multiple links. 

      

2. Type what you want to search for in the search bar.

3. After you have searched, use the filters on the side to narrow your search.

Your professor may require an article to be "peer-reviewed". You may want to choose "held by library" if you want a physical book rather than online. You may update the dates depending on if you want a primary source or a current source. 

Determine how narrow or broad you want your search terms.

If you use "Hurricane Matthew interview", you will be more likely to find the information you want rather than a broad search term such as "hurricane". However. using a more general search such as "Cold War spies" may help you find more resources. 

Use Boolean Search Operators.

These search terms allow you to exclude or include exactly what you want. They can be used not only in database searches but other search engines as well (e.g. Google). 

1. Find the database list using one of the multiple links. 

      

2. Choose the database that fits what your general topic. 

3. Type what you want to search for in the search bar.

4. After you have searched, use the filters list as well as the buttons "online full text" and "peer reviewed" to narrow your search.

Your professor may require an article to be "peer-reviewed". 

After you have found your article, take advantage of other features such as the citing button, translating button, audio button, and more.
