Google Drive: Exporting & Uploading your Files

Why Export?

In order to upload your documents to Blackboard, you must first export the file to either a PDF or a .docx format. 

How to Export

1. Select a document that you wish to download and open it.

2. Go to “File”, next click “Download as” and finally choose “PDF Document”.

3.  The file should download into your Downloads or it will have an option to save into your desired folder.

4. Find the file in the folders and open up your PDF to make sure it will successfully open.

 

NOTE: You can also export your documents to Microsoft Word (docx.) by following the steps listed above. Just select Microsoft Word (docx.) instead of the PDF option. Your document will then open in Word and you can save it to your desired folder. Please note that any changed you make to a document in Microsoft Word will NOT be saved on the Google Doc. If you need to make changes, please do so in Google Docs and the export the document. 

How to Upload in Blackboard

Once your files have been exported and saved as either a PDF or .docx you can then upload the content to Blackboard by following these steps:

  1. In Blackboard, open the assignment for submission.

    1. Click to find the file you saved in Step a. A window will pop up allowing you to search for files on your computer.

    2. Find your document and click on it. This places it in the File name box.

    3. Click . The window will close and you will see the file listed as attached. See image below.

b. Optionally, in the Comments box, type comments to your instructor.

c. Once you have uploaded your file and added any comments, you are ready to submit it to your teacher for grading.  Hit the green submit button to send the assignment to your teacher.
